YMCA of MEWSA in Piscataway, NJ is seeking a Regular Part-Time Service Worker to supervise swim lessons, open swims, and aquatic events under the Aquatic Director. Responsibilities

• Understand operations of the Aquatic Department.
• Ensure delivery of quality, safe programs with a learning-friendly environment.
• Ensure programs meet objectives and provide excellent value.
• Share responsibility for safety of all participants, guests, and members.
• Maintain a neat, orderly and safe pool deck.
• Ensure guards and instructors are actively engaged in their roles.
• Keep accurate attendance and related records as assigned.
• Support Aquatic Leadership team in communications with parents and participants.
• Follow house rules and enforce them with staff.
• Promote a member-friendly and family-friendly environment.
• Spend time with students and parents to meet expectations.
• Keep Aquatic Director and Assistant informed of activities or problems.
• Attend all mandatory meetings and recommended sessions.
• Accurately record time worked using the time recording system.

Salary Range: $17.50 To $17.95 Hourly

Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director, Asst. Aquatic Director or Coordinator this person supervise the swim lessons, open swims, aquatic events, etc as assigned. This person is responsible for training and supporting the Aquatic Leadership team to ensure that the quality of the YMCA swim programs, guarding, and aquatic environment are in line with YMCA of MEWSA Aquatic policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. 1. Have a complete understanding of the operations of the Aquatic Department.
2. 2. Ensure the delivery of quality programs that stress safety, fun, and an environment of friendly learning.
3. 3. Ensure the programs meet the program objectives and are of excellent value.
4. 4. Share the responsibility for safety and well being of all participants, guests and members.
5. 5. Maintain a neat, orderly and safe pool deck.
6. 6. Ensure all guards and instructors and actively engaged in their role and responsibility.
7. 7. Keep accurate attendance records, help schedule make-ups and additional records or paperwork as assigned.
8. 8. Support the Aquatic Leadership team in all forms of communication to parents and participants.
9. 9. Follow the house rules and expect the same of his/her staff.
10. 10. Promote a “member friendly and family friendly” environment.
11. 11. Spend time with the students and parents to ensure all expectations are met.
12. 12. Keep the Aquatic Director and Assistant Aquatic Director apprised of activities, situations or problems in the pool area.
13. 13. Attend all mandatory meeting, as well as those recommended by supervisor.
14. 14. Utilize the assigned time recording system to accurately record all time worked (time clock or missed punch form).

REQUIREMENTS:

• An excellent understanding of the aquatic department.
• A strong ability to supervise and lead others.
• Must be certified in first aid, CPR, and life guarding.
• A strong ability to be part of the in-service and aquatic drill delivery team.
• Must be able to relate to the membership, volunteers and other staff in a professional manner.

PHYSICAL REQURIEMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sufficient strength and skill technique to control and rescue struggling adult swimmers, lifting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, concentration, attention and focus to one area for extended periods of time, warm weather outdoor work, average to warm in-door and out-door pool heat and humidity.
