Job summary

Thornton Fractional Township High School District 215 is seeking a full-time security role responsible for ensuring student and facility safety across school operations and events. The position requires coordinating weapons detection, supervising students, and enforcing protocols during daily and special-event periods.

The ideal candidate will hold a High School diploma or equivalent, possess PERC, CPR, and AED certifications (or obtain during probation), and complete CPI and Restorative

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current, valid Illinois PERC (may be obtained during probationary period).
• Current CPR certification (may be obtained during probationary period).
• Current, valid AED certification (may be obtained during probationary period).
• Must complete CPI Intervention training biennially.
• Must complete Restorative Practices training biennially.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate weapons detection system (walk-through and handheld).
• Greet and run security stations at entry points and events.
• Supervise students in hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, buses.
• Conduct hallway sweeps and supervise tardy students.
• Conduct student and locker searches with dean and police liaison when necessary.
• Escort students and visitors through the building when required.
• Remove students from classrooms per teachers’ requests.
• Facilitate mediations and restorative circles as needed.
• Assist with attendance and truancy issues affecting academics.
• Log infractions and mediations in SIS; de-escalate conflicts.
• Provide supervision for school days and events (games, dances, concerts, etc.).
• Refer students to counselors as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
