Job summary

Phoenix Union High School District is seeking a Safety Assistant to maintain a safe learning environment across assigned campuses. The role focuses on monitoring activities, enforcing rules, and protecting district property on site.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, prior security experience, and required certifications, including first aid, CPR, and fingerprint clearance. 9.5-month work year with a starting hourly rate in the mid-teens.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; at least 21 years old.
• Security or related field experience preferred.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License is required.
• Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificates or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or eligible within 90 workdays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor campus activities and enforce district rules and regulations.
• Verify student IDs and authorized access to campus.
• Build positive relationships with students and staff to foster a safe climate.
• Escort disruptive students and de-escalate conflicts as needed.
• Report safety concerns to Dispatch/Base and campus leadership.
• Assist safety teams at other sites as required.
• Participate in mandatory safety trainings and maintain confidentiality.
