Job summary

South Piedmont Community College seeks a Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences to lead at a 12-month, full-time level across Anson and Union counties in North Carolina. The Dean oversees transfer degrees and coordinates general education, assessment, and articulation with university partners.

The role includes teaching one course per year, supervision of Chairs/Program Directors, budget forecasting, and active participation in college committees and community activities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a discipline taught within the School of Arts and Sciences.
• Five years of full-time teaching experience, or a part-time equivalent teaching at the college level.
• Three years of full-time experience with programmatic supervision at the Chair/Director level.
• Experience with program review and student learning outcomes assessment.
• Experience developing/teaching/assessing seated, Web-enhanced, hybrid, and online classes.
• Experience with class scheduling and creating student-centered options.
• Experience managing budgets and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Promote quality in learning and instruction using student-centered leadership and staff development.
• Supervise and evaluate Department Chairs and Program Directors.
• Support Chairs/Directors in faculty development, curriculum scheduling, and pedagogical innovation.
• Develop and monitor the School budget and forecast staffing, equipment, and supplies.
• Engage in College committees and community activities with the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
• Participate in student recruitment, advising, and registration activities.
• Advance articulation with University partners and grant prospecting as needed.
• Collaborate with community stakeholders to advance programmatic and institutional goals.
