Job summary

South Piedmont Community College seeks a Dean of Public Safety Programs to provide strategic oversight for BLET, Inservice Training, Fire Services, EMS, and Correctional Education programs. The role guides curriculum, scheduling, and outcomes while fostering partnerships with regional public safety agencies.

The Dean reports to the Vice President of Career and Workforce Development and will lead accreditation efforts, program review, and faculty development for a dynamic, workforce-aligned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public safety or related field required.
• At least one year of administrative or supervisory experience.
• Two academic years of post-secondary teaching OR five years of full-time professional experience in Fire/Law Enforcement/Corrections/EMS.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, faculty supervision, and program implementation to support student success.
• Ensure accreditation and regulatory standards are met across programs.
• Coordinate curriculum development, course scheduling, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Develop partnerships with regional public safety agencies and community stakeholders.
• Lead recruiting, mentoring, and evaluation of faculty and instructional staff.
• Advise on department budget and resource needs; monitor expenditures.
