Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Lead Engineering Technologist/SME for Generating Station Distributed Control Systems (DCS). You will provide expert technical support for operations, maintenance, and projects across multiple generation technologies and regions.

This role demands high levels of engineering knowledge, strong communication, and leadership to guide others and own fleet level standards, practices, and procedures, with travel ~15-25%.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant industry experience with a BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years with an Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 10+ years equivalent experience without a degree.
• Skilled in engineering theories and principles
• Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and presenting them.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Skilled in principles of project management.
• Experience with the utility industry.
• Experience with design, construction, commissioning, and/or process engineering support for generation facilities
• Experience with utility industry process control and automation equipment
• Experience with DCS manufacturers’ equipment: Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000, GE Mark VIe

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for operations, maintenance, and projects for multiple generation technologies across multiple geographic regions.
• Coordinate communication with external DCS OEM support groups and fleet level guidance to internal DCS staff.
• Act as owner of fleet level standards, practices, and procedures in DCS.
• Support plant operations and maintenance personnel in equipment troubleshooting.
