Job summary

The City of New York Department of Correction Training and Development Division seeks NYS DCJS-certified General Topics Instructors to plan and deliver classes for recruit and in-service training programs, ensuring alignment with DOC policies and NYS DCJS guidelines. Instructors will create lesson plans, assess class progress, and support division leadership with resource optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two years of community work experience, or
• High school graduation and six years of community work experience, or
• Education/experience equivalent to above with at least one year of the first option.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver classes per NYS DCJS guidelines and municipal training curricula.
• Create and revise training lesson plans and materials.
• Assess in-class performance to ensure goals are met.
• Coordinate resource use and staff scheduling with division leadership.
