Job summary

Texas Department Of Criminal Justice seeks a Sergeant of Correctional Officers - Correctional Training Instructor to lead classroom and hands-on training for new hires and incumbent staff at the Regional Training Academy.

You will instruct security and non-security trainees in procedures, inmate custody, emergency response, defensive tactics, firearms use, and chemical agent delivery systems, while preparing materials and evaluating performance.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
2+ years of correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
Willing to complete all instructor certification courses within 6 months of hire.
Experience in curriculum development and providing instruction.

Responsibilities

Instruct security and non-security trainees and employees in security procedures, inmate custody and management, emergency response, defensive tactics, and the use of firearms and chemical agent delivery systems.
Prepare training materials and deliver classroom instruction.
Counsel and supervise trainees; evaluate trainee performance and administer examinations.
Coordinate with academy leadership to maintain training schedules.
Develop and revise lesson plans, instructional methods and training aids; maintain training records.
