Job summary

The Texas Department Of Criminal Justice seeks a Sergeant of Correctional Officers to serve as a Correctional Training Instructor. Developing and updating curricula, observing field implementation, and certifying staff in required skills are key duties.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Preferred experience in correctional settings or law enforcement.
• Eligible to complete instructor certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Travel to facilities statewide to deliver on-site training.
• Instruct both security and non-security staff in defensive tactics and related topics.
• Develop and revise lesson plans and training aids for courses.
• Evaluate participant performance and administer examinations.
• Ensure staff receive consistent, hands-on instruction meeting agency standards.
