Job summary

Flexential is seeking a highly skilled VP of Construction-level professional to oversee project controls, cost tracking, and field coordination across multiple live builds and data-center retrofit projects. You will own financial governance, reporting standards, and escalation of cost risks.

The role demands strong discipline in cost accounting, schedule integration, and multi-project forecasting, with a hybrid work model including on-site collaboration at designated hubs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CM/Finance/Engineering/Accounting.
• 5–8 years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or construction accounting on heavy industrial or utility projects.
• 2–3 years on mission-critical or data center construction with heavy MEP cost understanding.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain project controls reporting frameworks, financial tracking standards, and performance metrics for portfolio visibility and decision support.
• Maintain active site sub-ledgers and perform daily cost-code accounting using MasterFormat/Uniformat.
• Review monthly progress billings and pay apps from the General Contractor and cross-check against on-site work-in-place verification.
• Collect, audit, and log lien waivers from sub-tier trades to mitigate financial, legal, and title risks.
• Monitor OFE payments, tracking milestones and tax exemptions as items transition to field.
• Isolate and book budgets for large repair/retrofit builds to avoid cost blending with maintenance budgets.
• Defend change orders; review Subcontractor COs for entitlement; verify quantities and rates against baselines.
• Provide first-principles quantity takeoffs for field variations to negotiate value before work begins.
• Monitor labor productivity, material waste, and design gaps to flag overruns early.
