TEKsystems in Burlington, TX is seeking a Fiber Technician Team Lead / Foreman to oversee fiber installation, maintenance, and testing in a data center. You will lead on-site technicians, coordinate with project managers, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities include directing daily tasks, reviewing drawings and cable layouts, and mentoring staff while maintaining documentation and progress reports for timely project completion.

• Hands-on background in cabling, construction, field work, etc. would be great.

• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burlington, TX.

Job Description The Fiber Technician Team Lead / Foreman is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day fiber installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities within a data center environment. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. The Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact between technicians, project managers, and on‑site stakeholders. Leadership & Supervision Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of fiber technicians on‑site Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure efficient workflow Enforce company policies, safety standards, and best practices Provide on‑the‑job training and support skill development for team members Conduct daily briefings, tool‑box talks, and safety meetings Project Execution Coordinate and execute fiber optic installations, including: Structured cabling systems (SM/MM fiber) Fiber trays, ladder racks, and cable pathways Rack‑and‑stack cabling in data center environments Interpret blueprints, cable schedules, and network diagrams Ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables Communicate progress, issues, and status updates to project management Technical Oversight Perform and oversee fiber splicing, termination, and testing Ensure proper use of testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, VFL, etc.) Troubleshoot fiber network issues and implement corrective actions Verify labeling, documentation, and cable management meet standards Maintain quality control and ensure installations meet client specifications Safety & Compliance Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and site‑specific safety requirements Identify and mitigate potential hazards on‑site Ensure proper PPE usage and safe work practices at all times Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of installations, test results, and as‑built documentation Submit daily reports, progress updates, and incident reports as required Assist with project close‑out documentation

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
