Job summary

TEKsystems is hiring multiple Data Center Technicians for a long-term, onsite role in Waco, TX. The positions focus on installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic and structured cabling within data center environments, including rack-and-stack deployments and cable pathways.

You'll read blueprints and diagrams, use OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs to validate performance, and document all activities. Safety is emphasized per OSHA and site rules.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years IT-related experience with Data Center/Cabling
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and fiber optic technologies
• Familiarity with HVAC, electrical backup, and fire suppression systems
• Low voltage experience is a plus but not required
• Cabling experience preferred but not required
• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waco, TX

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, cable schedules, and network diagrams while ensuring installations meet timelines, quality standards, and client specs.

• Communicate project progress and results to teams, and maintain daily reports, test results, as‑built documentation, and project closeout records.
• Follow OSHA and site safety requirements by identifying hazards and using proper PPE

A large Data Center in Burlington, TX is hiring multiple Data Center Technicians to join the team for a great long term opportunity!

Job Duties

• Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and structured cabling systems (single-mode and multi-mode fiber) within data center environments, including rack-and-stack deployments, cable pathways, ladder racks, and fiber tray systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, cable schedules, and network diagrams while ensuring installations meet project timelines, quality standards, and client specifications.
• Utilize industry-standard testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs to validate network performance, maintain accurate labeling, cable management, and document all installation and testing activities.
• Communicate project progress, issues, and status updates to project teams, while maintaining daily reports, test results, as-built documentation, and project closeout records.
• Follow OSHA and site-specific safety requirements by identifying potential hazards, utilizing proper PPE, and maintaining safe work practices at all times.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of prior IT related experience with previous Data Center/Cabling experience.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and fiber optic technologies.
• Familiarity with environmental systems such as HVAC, electrical backup systems, and fire suppression systems.
• Low voltage experience is a big plus but not required.
• Prefer cabling experience (coax, fiber, cat5, cat6, punch downs, etc.) but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waco, TX.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
