Job summary

TEKsystems is hiring multiple Data Center Technicians for a major data center build in Burlington, TX, with a contract-to-hire path out of Fort Worth, TX. The role pays $28.00 per hour and offers onsite work.

You will install, terminate, test and troubleshoot fiber optic and structured cabling, read blueprints, and use OTDRs and power meters to confirm network performance. Safety and documentation are essential parts of the job.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of prior IT related experience with Data Center/Cabling experience.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and fiber optic technologies.
• Familiarity with HVAC, electrical backup systems and fire suppression.
• Low voltage experience is a big plus but not required.
• Prefer cabling experience (coax, fiber, cat5, cat6, punch downs, etc.) but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Our Client is supporting a large data center build out in Burlington, TX is hiring multiple Data Center Technicians to join the team for a great long term opportunity!

Job Duties:

• Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and structured cabling systems (single-mode and multi-mode fiber) within data center environments, including rack-and-stack deployments, cable pathways, ladder racks, and fiber tray systems.

• Read and interpret blueprints, cable schedules, and network diagrams while ensuring installations meet project timelines, quality standards, and client specifications.

• Utilize industry-standard testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and VFLs to validate network performance, maintain accurate labeling, cable management, and document all installation and testing activities.

• Communicate project progress, issues, and status updates to project teams, while maintaining daily reports, test results, as-built documentation, and project closeout records.

• Follow OSHA and site-specific safety requirements by identifying potential hazards, utilizing proper PPE, and maintaining safe work practices at all times.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
