Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an Overnight Data Center Technician in Santa Clara, CA. The role focuses on L2 break/fix for servers, with occasional installation and deployment work. You will troubleshoot devices, update firmware, configure IPs, and assist network admins on cabling and component replacements.

This is a long-term contract opportunity with on-site duties, working overnights. The position requires real-time problem solving and collaboration with DC/Lab teams.

Qualifications

• Data center operations and cable management experience.
• Hardware troubleshooting and rack-and-stack proficiency.
• Familiarity with trouble tickets and monitoring tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.
• Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.
• Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Assist network admins with server and switch issues and cabling tasks.
• Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch and cable for remote login and configuration.
• Support Level 1 responsibilities as necessary.

OVERNIGHT

These techs must have good DC Tech break/fix troubleshooting.

This is a long-term ongoing Datacenter Tech opportunity. They will work in the build out and support of a datacenter. This will be mostly break/fix, but they must be open to installation and deployment workload as needed (not very likely during the overnights).

Level 2

• Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.
• Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.
• Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Reach out and assist network admins on any issues they are having with a server that can range from: replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers. And supporting their DC/Lab teams.
• Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on device.
• Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switch.
• Assist out with Level 1 responsibilities as necessary.

It is critical that that all submittals be true L2 break/fix

This is L2 troubleshooting installs and ops. It is not remote hands or people being walked through tickets by engineers who already did the troubleshooting.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
