What are we looking for?

We are seeking a Residential Team Leader (RTL) to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will help ensure that individuals with disabilities receive the support they need to live safe, meaningful, and fulfilling lives, whether in SJCS-operated group homes or supported living arrangements.

As an RTL, you will foster environments where self-direction, community integration, and independent living skills are encouraged and developed every day. Your leadership will guide staff in delivering person-centered services that empower individuals to achieve their personal goals, maintain their independence, and participate fully in community life.

Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead, coach, and develop a strong team of Residential Support Specialists to deliver high- quality, person-centered residential services.
  • Hold routine meetings with each assigned department to ensure strong communication and alignment with agency goals.
  • Model the mission, vision, and philosophy of SJCS in all interactions, providing direct instruction, coaching, and feedback to staff.
  • Participate in recruitment, orientation, and training of new staff; conduct regular performance evaluations and staff observations.
  • Maintain 24-hour on-call availability for assigned departments; provide direct coverage during emergencies.
Program Operations & Service Delivery
  • Oversee daily operations of assigned Community Living departments, ensuring compliance with agency, licensing, and funding requirements.
  • Ensure the full implementation and accurate documentation of each person’s Individual
    Support Plan (ISP).
  • Attend all assessment and ISP meetings; ensure staff are trained on and follow Behavior Support Plans.
  • Plan and monitor community activities that align with ISP goals, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
  • Coordinate with Program Directors and Program Coordinators to ensure proper management of individual funds and benefit eligibility.
Health, Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Maintain residences and vehicles in a safe, secure, and aesthetically pleasing condition.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all individuals served; respond promptly to incidents and ensure thorough reporting and follow-up.
  • Monitor individuals’ health and behavioral status; arrange and attend medical
    appointments, sharing relevant information with the agency nurse.
  • Oversee medication management, including ordering, administration, and error reporting in compliance with protocols.
  • Ensure timely access to ancillary services (e.g., therapies, specialized plans) outlined in each ISP.
  • Conduct routine quality checks of logs, files, medical records, and reports for compliance and accuracy.
Administration & Compliance
  • Complete billing documentation and ensure accuracy for all administrative records.
  • Monitor and approve staff timekeeping records for payroll processing.
  • Support state recruitment efforts by participating in outreach, hiring, and onboarding processes.
  • Attend and actively participate in agency events, workshops, training sessions, and meetings.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in operating relevant computer systems (hardware and software) and office equipment.

Extra credit will be given if you have the following experience, education, and requirements:

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities; experience in community-based programs preferred.

Background Clearance: Must meet SJCS and applicable funding jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and records checks.

Health Requirements: Valid health certificate in accordance with current funding jurisdiction requirements.

Driver’s License: Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.

All SJCS employees must:
  • Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or applicable funding authority requirements.
  • Meet SJCS and funding authority requirements for criminal background and records checks.
Physical and environmental conditions include:
  • Work generally involves no unusual physical demands beyond normal risks or discomfort; may require standard safety precautions when operating a motor vehicle
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to speak on the phone or participate in virtual meetings for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel up to 50–65% as required by the position.

The compensation for this position is $52,00 to $55,000. Salary is dependent upon experience, state, and budget.
