Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts is seeking associates to perform DC outbound functions including loading, picking, and packing orders for shipment. You will locate merchandise, verify part numbers, and prepare totes for conveyor transfer in a fast-paced distribution center in Des Moines, IA.

Responsibilities include operating RF devices, ensuring accuracy, loading trucks, and maintaining safety and cleanliness. Training duties may be assigned, with emphasis on following DC standards and proper documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and match numbers and letters quickly and accurately.
• Strong mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Locate and pull merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against the part number.
• Place merchandise in tote or stage bulk items in the appropriate area.
• When the order is completed, mark the tote by customer number and send down the conveyor.
• Consolidate and pack stock order merchandise quickly and accurately for efficient checking by the customer.
• Operate handheld computers (RF units) and/or voice-picking equipment at DCs.
• Load trucks quickly and accurately and tie/secure freight for loading.
• Keep picking zones supplied with totes and repair totes as needed.
• Start printers and sort tickets/labels by zone.
• Maintain a clean work area and dispose of cardboard and trash properly.
• Explain job duties to new team members and convey procedural changes as needed.
• Maintain safety standards and identify unsafe practices.
