Job summary

Ocean State Job Lot is seeking an Area Manager I for its Distribution Center in a second-shift, Monday–Friday schedule. You will lead an operations team, drive safety, productivity, and cost optimization, and partner with management to standardize practices across the DC.

The role requires extensive DC leadership experience, process improvement mindset, and strong communication with stakeholders. Salary ranges reflect market norms and experience in a large retail distribution environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience leading and managing teams in a distribution/ DC setting.
• Experience in large DC operations, logistics, or supply chain roles required.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or logistics preferred.
• Experience communicating with diverse stakeholders required.
• Data-driven decision making using variances, metrics, and reports.
• Proficient with spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and Google platforms.
• Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen experience preferred; continuous improvement projects welcome.
• Bilingual Spanish is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with hiring and disciplinary actions for team members.
• Coach teams to meet productivity, quality, and accuracy standards.
• Manage performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback.
• Develop and oversee work schedules to ensure efficient operations.
• Maintain safety compliance and promote a safety-first culture.
• Standardize shift practices with management-level colleagues across the DC.
• Evaluate shift performance against OKRs and implement improvement strategies.
• Ensure timely, accurate DC operations using warehouse data and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed.
