Job summary

ICBA seeks a Vice President of Congressional Relations in the Washington, DC area to advocate ICBA’s legislative positions before Congress, agencies, and the Executive Branch. You will inform ICBA members on congressional activities and coordinate policymaker interaction.

This role requires leading lobbying efforts, drafting bill language, analyzing hearings, and advising members on congressional activities, while promoting ICBA policies across the industry.

Qualifications

• Minimum BA degree; law or public policy degree preferred.
• Minimum seven (7) years in government relations or trade associations.
• Strong written, analytical and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of banking/financial services; Congressional experience preferred.
• Ability to travel 10% and work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain contact with members of Congress and key staff.
• Orchestrate grassroots lobbying efforts to influence Congress.
• Attend PAC events and assist members visiting offices.
• Draft and negotiate bill language or amendments.
• Cover hearings and legislative markups and report findings.
• Develop lobbying strategies with legislative and regulatory teams.
• Draft congressional testimony, letters, and position papers.
• Prepare members for testimonies before Congress and agencies.
• Monitor and influence legislative developments in assigned areas.
• Analyze legislation for impact on community banks.
