Job summary

Greater Austin YMCA is hiring Lifeguards for multiple locations with daytime availability. A lifeguard must hold current YMCA or Red Cross lifeguard certification, CPR/AED, First Aid, and be at least 16 years old. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and community-building while offering a complimentary YMCA membership. Shifts run 5:00 a.m.

to 4:00 p.m. with a minimum of 10 hours per week. Responsibilities include monitoring, emergencies response, program support, and keeping facilities

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 16 years old.
• Available to work at least 10 hours per week between 5:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor pool areas and enforce safety rules to prevent accidents.
• React to emergencies with first aid and CPR to protect members.
• Identify and resolve hazards to maintain a safe environment.
• Inspect pool equipment and facilities and report issues.
• Inform members about pool rules and safety procedures.
• Assist with swim lessons and aquatics programs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in pool areas and locker rooms.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings to stay current on safety procedures.
• Demonstrate YMCA values in all interactions and foster a sense of belonging.
• Serve as an ambassador for the YMCA and share its culture with members and guests.
