Job summary

kdc/one is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage all payroll processing activities across multiple groups in California. You will ensure timely reporting of wages, taxes, and benefits, while liaising with IRS/state agencies as needed.

The role requires 5+ years in payroll, proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce, and the ability to train managers on payroll procedures and wage/hour rules. Bilingual Spanish is a plus, and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in accounting or related experience with a high school diploma.
• Minimum of five (5) years related experience in a payroll environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of payroll processing for assigned pay groups.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of wages, taxes and benefits to employees and agencies.
• Responds to IRS and state agency inquiries pertaining to payroll taxes and wages.
• Reconcile Quarters and W-2 for all companies.
• Accumulate data and prepare worker’s comp audit report for all pay groups.
• Coordinate with HR for California wage/hour updates.
• Audit Temp Agency payroll for California wage/hour law compliance.
• Send monthly reminders on California wage/hour laws.
• Train managers in Dayforce for accurate payroll processing.
• Provide monthly employee counts to Safety team.
• Assist HR with payroll-related requests (mortgage verifications, time & attendance).
• Handle all regulatory garnishments.
• Verify holiday pay schedule accuracy in Dayforce for next year.
• Review entitlement balances at year end.
• Work with Dayforce support on systems updates and testing.
• Stay current with state payroll laws.
