Job summary

Stepping Stones Learning Center is seeking a dependable, caring, energetic Lead Preschool Teacher to join our team. We are looking for someone who has a passion for early childhood education and can create a safe, nurturing, organized, and engaging classroom environment where preschool children can learn and grow.

The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for the overall operation of the preschool classroom, including planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences,

Qualifications

• Must meet Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements for a Lead Teacher.
• Be at least 19 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Meet one of Michigan's approved Lead Teacher qualification pathways.

Responsibilities

• Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Providing learning experiences that support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, creative, and physical development.
• Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
• Maintaining required child-to-staff ratio.
• Completing observations, documentation, developmental assessments, and other required classroom records.
• Establishing consistent classroom routines and expectations.
• Encouraging independence, problem-solving, communication, and positive peer relationships.
• Communicating professionally with parents and guardians regarding their child's day, development, accomplishments, and concerns.
• Following all health, sanitations, diapering/toilet, meals, rest-time, outdoor-play, and safety procedures.
• Following all Stepping Stones Learning Center policies and Michigan Child Care Licensing Rules.

Job Summary The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for the overall operation of the preschool classroom, including planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experience, maintaining a safe and welcoming classroom, supervising and guiding classroom staff, monitoring children’s development and building positive relationships with children and families.

Responsibilities

• Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Providing learning experiences that support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, creative, and physical development.
• Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
• Maintaining required child-to-staff ratio.
• Completing observations, documentation, developmental assessments, and other required classroom records.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the current Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements for a Lead Teacher.

At minimum, a Lead Teacher must:

• Be at least 19 years of age
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Meet at least one of Michigan's approved Lead Teacher qualification pathways.

Qualification pathways may include:

• Pathway 1-Experience & MiRegistry Training
  • At least 1 year of qualifying experience
  • 3 Hours of MiRegistry training in each of the following
    • Program Management
    • Observation, Documentation, and Assessment
    • Teaching and Learning
  • 6 additional hours in combination or any
    • Interaction and guidance
    • Challenging Behaviors
    • Trauma-informed practices
• Pathway 2-Coursework & Experience
  • At least 6 months of qualifying experience
  • At least 6 semesters hours, 9 CEUs, or a combination equal to 90 clock hours of qualifying coursework in child care administration, early childhood education, child development, or a child-related field.
  • Up to 30 hours of MiRegistry-approved training may be used toward these requirements.
  • This pathway applies when working in a center participating in Great Start to Quality.
• Pathway 3-Credential/Degree
  • A vaild Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Montessori credential, Infant Family Associate credential, or an associate degree or higher in any field of study
  • 3 hours of MiRegistry-approved training in each of the following
    • Program Management
    • Observation, Documentation, and Assessment
    • Teaching and Learning
  • 6 additional hours in any or combination of the following
    • Interaction and guidance
    • Challenging Behaviors
    • Trauma-Informed Practices
