Job summary

City Of Alexandria Va Sanitation Authority seeks a Wastewater Maintenance Technician I to support Alexandria’s wastewater operations. You will diagnose mechanical issues, perform preventive maintenance, read meters, and follow SOPs to ensure continuous plant performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Two years wastewater industry experience as mechanic apprentice or equivalent preferred.
• Active Virginia Wastewater Works Class 4 or ability to obtain within two years in position desired.
• Valid driver’s license required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Read dials and meters to determine amperage, voltage, electrical output and input at operating temperature.
• Attend all scheduled mandatory safety training.
• Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in procedures.
• Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify, and plan requirements for fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Perform industrial mechanical maintenance on wastewater plant process equipment.
• Maintain, repair, install, troubleshoot, lubricate, and adjust wastewater machinery and equipment.
• Generate and close work orders using the Mentor APM system.
