Job summary

Lovelace Health System in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a day-shift, full-time Surgical Technician to assist surgeons in the operating room under RN supervision. The role includes conveying sterile instruments and supplies, while following strict policies to ensure patient safety.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program, and BLS certification within 14 days of hire; OR experience and CST/CORT credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or clinical-based program.
• Anatomy and Physiology, sterile technique, medical terminology, instrumentation, and medical equipment knowledge.
• Sterilization techniques; Operating Room instruments and supplies.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Six (6) months of experience in an operating room or ambulatory surgery unit.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeons with surgical procedures within the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, including conveying sterile instruments and supplies used in basic to complex surgical procedures.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.
