Job summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center in Avenel, NJ. The UCHC Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus; works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment; frequently functions guided by nursing protocols; and functions as a team leader as assigned.
Night shift, onsite, 20 hours weekly.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- CPR Certification.
- RN license in New Jersey.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to inmatepatients (18–64) and geriatrics (65+) within a correctional setting.
- Works with health care professionals and security officers guided by nursing protocols.
- Participates in continuing education to maintain skills.
- Supports education to inmates, security officers and health care team.
- Acts as team leader as assigned by supervisor.
