Job summary

Penn Medicine’s Pennsylvania Hospital Lab Team is seeking a Phlebotomist Laboratory Assistant for a full-time day shift. The role involves drawing blood for diagnostic testing across infant to adult patients and processing specimens for testing.

The ideal candidate will have an HS diploma, phlebotomy training, LIS experience, and ASCP certification, and will work across the main CSP Lab, outpatient phlebotomy, and campus locations ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy training and outpatient/hospital experience.
• Experience with Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• ASCP certification or equivalent credential required.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and specimen collection following SOPs with accuracy.
• Properly labels specimens and ensures timely processing.
• Maintains accurate log records and supports quality control.
• Adheres to HIPAA, safety, and infection control policies.
• Communicates effectively with patients and staff across shifts.

Education

HS Diploma/GED (Required)

Phlebotomy training and experience in an outpatient or hospital setting

Prior experience with the Laboratory Information System

American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
