Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Part-time Level II Phlebotomist for the 3rd shift. The successful candidate will independently perform a broad range of specimen collections, mentor Level I staff, and ensure accuracy and safety in all tasks, including specimen labeling and data entry in EMR/LIS.

This role requires ASCP certification or equivalent, HS diploma, and 4+ years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or outpatient setting. The department emphasizes professional conduct and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED required.
• 4+ years phlebotomy training and experience in an outpatient or hospital setting.
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (Required).
• Certification as a PBT or MLA by a minimum knowledge-based exam such as the Board of Certification PBT(ASCP) or MLA(ASCP)

Responsibilities

• Identifies stage of growth of patients and significant others.
• Performs venipuncture and specimen collection with 100% accuracy.
• Enters patient demographics, test orders, and billing information into EMR/LIS.
• Maintains a safe and orderly work area.
• Keeps a professional demeanor in interactions with patients and staff.
• Completes annual mandatories and supports staffing on multi-shift coverage.
