Job summary

Baystate Health in Springfield, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our Medical Surgical Department team at Baystate Medical Center. The role provides care to diverse adult patients and supports nurses and providers during examinations and procedures.

The position features 12-hour day shifts (7am-7:30pm), full-time 36 hours, with every other weekend and holiday. Candidates should have GED/HiSET and BLS; CNA certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET is required.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification is noted in the job description.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and documents vital signs, intake/output, and changes in patient condition.
• Performs nursing-support procedures such as dressings, specimen collection, EKGs, and Point-of-Care testing as approved by Baystate Health policies.
• Assists nurses and providers with examinations, treatments, and patient care activities while monitoring patients for changes.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Maintains patient safety and responds to emergencies according to policies and competencies.
• Schedules: 12-hour day shifts (7am-7:30pm); 36 hours per week; weekends and holidays every other.
