Job summary

Mercy South's Oncology Infusion Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the infusion team in an outpatient setting. The RN will assess patients before, during, and after treatments and administer infusion therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products.

This PRN day-shift role emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care, close collaboration with oncologists, pharmacists, and support staff, and ongoing education for patients and families throughout the treatment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, valid RN license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Previous oncology experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before, during, and after infusion treatments.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration therapy, and other infusion medications.
• Monitor patients closely for treatment responses and adverse reactions.
• Access and maintain peripheral IVs, ports, and central lines.
• Collaborate with oncologists, AP providers, pharmacists, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on medications, side effects, symptom management, and ongoing care needs.
• Review laboratory results and communicate significant findings to the care team.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
• Maintain oncology treatment safety standards and infection prevention practices.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
