Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform complex tests and ensure accuracy of results for pathologists and clinicians. You will prepare specimens, operate automated equipment, and report findings in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include QC, calibration, instrument maintenance, LIS data entry, and communication with providers. Requires 1–3 years’ experience, a relevant degree, and strong teamwork and English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory, Life Sciences or Medical Technology required.
• ASCP Registered preferred, or equivalent accreditation.
• 1–3 years related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens and perform complex tests using automated equipment per procedures.
• Perform QC, calibration and instrument maintenance; assist with inventory management.
• Conduct routine testing, evaluate results and report according to policies.
• Enter results into LIS and communicate critical results to providers.
• Participate in continuing education and QA/QI projects.
• Evaluate new methods and develop SOPs under leadership.
• Adhere to safety and infection control policies; follow OSHA guidelines.
• May perform venipunctures and blood culture collection; assist with other duties.
• Address client questions and escalate as needed; support training of staff.
• Assist in staff training and manage multiple priorities.
