Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse/Medical Assistant to perform selected nursing tasks, coordinate patient flow, and assist clinicians in a fast-paced outpatient setting. You will collect vitals, document health information, and support room preparation and patient education.

The role requires a MA credential approved by the MA Department of Health and a current BLS/HS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS or Heart Saver certification; if not available upon hire, must be obtained within 3 months.
• Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests.
• Assist with injections within scope of practice.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining examination rooms and equipment.
• Coordinate with insurers for pre-authorization and patient coverage as needed.
• Process prescriptions and refills as directed.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant credential (Mass. Dept. of Health approved)
