Job summary

University of Iowa’s Department of Pathology seeks a Laboratory Technician II to support clinical specimen processing, test result reporting, LIS tasks, and routine lab maintenance. The role is full-time on campus with regular daytime hours (no weekends or holiday rotations) and reports to the Healthcare organization.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of related lab experience or CLA certification, plus strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• For candidates, two years of related lab experience or CLA certification or an equivalent combo of education/experience.
• Desirable: MLA(ASCP) certification or eligible.
• Experience with pre-analytical specimen handling and processing is preferred.
• Proficiency with Epic and Beaker systems is advantageous.
• Experience creating patient and supplier invoices.
• Knowledge of CPT coding and medical billing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Responds to telephone/electronic inquiries, including CM voicemail.
• Performs laboratory work as assigned.
• Maintains and monitors CM laboratory supplies.
• Performs LIS/computer/clerical tasks.
• Contributes to the maintenance of the work environment.
