Job summary

UPMC Altoona is hiring for a full-time dayshift Housekeeping position. Schedule runs 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotation.

Starting pay for this position is $14.64 per hour. It is part of the AFSCME union. Responsibilities include operating all departmental cleaning equipment safely, cleaning and disinfecting hospital areas, moving furniture and supplies, and performing routine quality checks.

Qualifications

• Prior training in institutional cleaning is preferred.
• Willingness to perform repetitive cleaning tasks across areas.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate all departmental cleaning equipment safely and keep equipment clean and stored properly.
• Climb ladders to hang drapes or reach areas requiring cleaning.
• Clean and service hospital areas, move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Wash walls, ceilings, windows, drapes, cubicles and fixtures using appropriate methods.
• Transport supplies and handle files or equipment as required by supervision.
• Use cleaning chemicals per guidelines and wear PPE as required.
• Disinfect areas by scrubbing and spraying germicide cleaners.
• Discharge or transfer rooms and areas following infection control procedures.
• Collect waste according to infection control guidelines.
• Clean sinks, fixtures, and replace disposables as needed.
• Perform daily quality checks and report improvements.
