Job summary

Forward Air Corp. Indianapolis is seeking a qualified Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight in a fast-paced dock environment.

Candidates should be capable of operating sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, using scanners and company systems to ensure accurate documentation. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, forklift certification, and 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience, with the physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs with assistance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels and barcodes, and perform basic arithmetic.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld devices.
• Regular, predictable attendance is expected.
• Ability to operate MHE safely and follow safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading adhering to safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
