Job summary

University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a Food Service Worker II to perform food preparation, service, and sanitation tasks at Plaza 900. You will follow recipes, maintain a clean work area, and provide high-quality customer service.

The role includes supervising and assisting student employees, setting up service areas, and supporting continuous departmental improvement. The position offers a 9:00am–5:30pm schedule on weekdays with occasional weekends and closings based on operation needs.

Qualifications

• Must pass a physical examination to determine ability to perform essential functions.
• Able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Six months experience in the preparation and service of food in an institutional or commercial facility.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, including knife skills, and service and sanitation methods.
• Ability to lift and handle heavy kitchen utensils and supplies (up to 40 pounds).
• Good physical health.
• Customer service and supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food by reading and following recipes according to instructions.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and secure working area.
• Set up service/preparation areas and provide high-quality customer service.
• Direct, help train, and assist student employees in food preparation and service.
• Clean and replenish service areas, dining room, and dishwashing areas during and after service.
• Complete required training and assist in continuous department improvement.
