Job summary

JCC MetroWest in West Orange, NJ, is seeking a part-time Day Habilitation Program Assistant to work with adults with special needs. The role will support a program leader in a dynamic community center setting, implementing activities that foster social and life skills.

Paid training is provided, and daily documentation is required for each shift. The position runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with supervision by the Special Services Assistant Director

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years old.
• Safety checks including drug testing, fingerprinting, and background checks will be conducted.
• Paid training is required prior to starting work and daily documentation is required on each workday.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementation of activities for all program activities.
• Maintain an effective group management system to engage participants and work toward outcomes.
• Communicate with the Group Leader about materials and supplies needs.
• Model appropriate interactions and assist participants to interact with others and engage in activities.
• Assist in taking daily attendance when needed.
• Report illnesses or injuries to the Group Leader.
• Escort participants to and from activities within the building.
• Provide supervision to ensure participant safety.
• Document daily for assigned participants using the Formstack platform.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; complete required annual training.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Day Habilitation Program Assistant (Part-Time)

The Special Services Department at JCC MetroWest in West Orange, NJ is searching for a part-time Day Habilitation Program Assistant. The Day Habilitation Program Assistant will work alongside a program leader with a group of adults having special needs in a dynamic community center setting by implementing activities that motivate participants and strengthen their social and life experiences. Paid training is required prior to starting work and daily documentation is required on each workday. Day Habilitation Program Assistants are supervised by the Special Services Assistant Director and the Day Habilitation Program Leader.

Essential Functions

• Assist in implementation of activities of all program activities
• Maintain an effective system of group management that encourages participants to engage in appropriate interactions with peers and work towards individual outcomes
• Communicate regularly with the Group Leader regarding needs for materials and supplies to support the activities
• Model appropriate interactions and assist participants to interact with others and engage in program activities
• Assist in taking daily attendance when needed
• Report ALL illnesses or injuries to the Group Leader
• Escort participants to and from activities throughout the building
• Provide supervision to ensure safety for all participants
• Document for assigned participants each day using the Formstack platform
• Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as indicated
• Complete required annual training
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Other Responsibilities and Information

• The use of cell phones and other electronics should be kept to a minimum
• Staff should dress in a casual and professional manner

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate and be at least 21 years of age
• Various safety checks including but not limited to drug testing, fingerprinting, CARI, Central Registry, and both Medicaid and NJ Treasury database checks will be conducted

Compensation: $20.63 per hour
