Job summary

Randstad Digital in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a contract Senior Project Manager to lead engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit substation and transmission projects.

You will coordinate with utility providers and cross-functional teams to ensure energy capacity readiness, manage master schedules in Microsoft Project, and oversee cost estimates, POs, and change management while ensuring site safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 10+ years of direct substation design and delivery experience.
• 10+ years of consulting engineering or construction experience in substations and power infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering or project management teams for transmission, substation, or datacenter infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in project management, scheduling, and utility stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for electric utility service providers across transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
• Facilitate weekly design and construction progress meetings with engineering, energy, and local authority stakeholders.
• Maintain master project schedules in Microsoft Project, identifying critical path items and tracking project milestones.
• Manage project financials by tracking purchase orders, change management processes, and cost estimates.
• Perform weekly site walks and safety evaluations, ensuring full compliance with site energization and safety plans.
