Qualifications

• Minimum 11 years combined education and/or work experience; 4 years engineering/architecture and 5 years leadership experience
• 5+ years related work experience with Databases, or 8+ years tech with 3+ in a database/infra role (Postgres and/or Oracle)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent decision-making skills
• Agile experience including methodology, project cadences, ceremonies, and Jira usage

Responsibilities

• Lead the database engineering team with technical guidance and mentorship.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust database platforms for scalability, performance, and security.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices; implement them.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align DB platforms with business needs.
• Lead technical product management activities for strategic database products.
• Maintain a healthy product backlog and prioritize enhancements and issues.
• Develop roadmaps for consumption by team, partners, and stakeholders.
• Communicate progress with messaging, reporting, and customer outreach as needed.
• Resolve production issues with stakeholders and drive timely escalations.
• Plan, develop, and implement next-gen features.
• Define and analyze technical markets; develop detailed features and implementation plans.
• Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to improve platform value.
• Participate in business planning and departmental prioritization.
• Contribute to engineering practices in CI and automated deployment.
• Adhere to division standards and documentation requirements.
• Understand business needs and implications of projects.
• Support staff development through training and mentorship.
• Exercise manager duties on staffing, performance, promotions, and terminations.
• Adhere to risk and regulatory standards; design and maintain internal controls.
• Promote an environment of belonging and reflect the M&T Bank brand.
