Job summary

DTCC in Boston seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Database Engineering to support Institutional Trade Processing apps such as CTM and SIM, designing scalable Oracle and PostgreSQL solutions for high-volume environments.

You will drive cloud-first modernization with AWS, implement robust data models, and collaborate across Agile teams to ensure performance, reliability, and data security. You’ll mentor peers and contribute to engineering excellence within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, database development, or related technical roles.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale applications in high-volume, transactional environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize enterprise database solutions using Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Build and support high-volume OLTP systems that process large transactional workloads.
• Develop data models, complex SQL queries, PL/SQL, stored procedures, views, and database objects.
• Partner with application development teams to build integrated solutions using Java, JDBC, JMS, and related technologies.
• Support cloud-first modernization initiatives using AWS and cloud-native engineering practices.
• Implement database change management, schema deployments, and version control using Liquibase, Git, and GitHub.
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Support data integration through APIs, SFTP, batch processing, ETL/ELT, and replication technologies.
• Ensure data quality, security, access controls, resiliency, and operational reliability.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, design discussions, and delivery execution using Jira.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and business partners to deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practices, documentation standards, and technical excellence.
