Qualifications

• Familiarity with ML concepts and large language models; interest in applying to real-world problems.
• Eligible to work in the United States within 50 miles of Alpharetta, GA and able to work 40 hours per week May–August.

Siemens Corp., IT Americas is seeking a motivated and curious Data Science Intern to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. In this role, you will work alongside experienced data and technology professionals to apply data science, machine learning, and generative AI to real business challenges across Siemens.

Siemens Corp., IT Americas is seeking qualified candidates for its Summer 2027 Internship Program in Data Science beginning in May 2027. This program is based in Alpharetta, GA.

As a Data Science Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working with enterprise data, analytics, machine learning, and emerging AI technologies. You will contribute to projects from data preparation and analysis through solution development and visualization while learning how data and AI are applied within a global organization.

The employee responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Collect, clean, transform, and analyze data to support analytics, machine learning, and AI use cases.
• Develop and apply machine learning and GenAI frameworks to help solve real business problems and support data-driven decision-making.
• Write SQL and Python code to support data engineering, analytics, and machine learning projects.
• Develop dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Tableau and Power BI to make complex information easier to understand and act upon.
• Work with enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake to access, analyze, and prepare data for various use cases.
• Collaborate with data architects, developers, and subject matter experts to understand business requirements, review solutions, and improve technical deliverables.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement and help develop solutions that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Participate in Agile ways of working, including sprint planning, stand-ups, project reviews, and team collaboration.
• Document solutions, processes, and technical work to support knowledge sharing, scalability, and future development.
• Research emerging technologies and explore how AI, machine learning, and new data capabilities can be applied to business challenges.

Basic Qualifications

• Current undergraduate pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• Experience programming in Python or R and working with data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate meaningful insights.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts, algorithms, and/or large language models and an interest in applying them to real-world problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
• Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Alpharetta, GA and able to work 40 hours per week from May through August.
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL and data analysis using Python.
• Familiarity with machine learning libraries or frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Understanding of model evaluation, validation, feature engineering, and data preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with generative AI, large language models, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Exposure to Snowflake, version control systems such as Git, or cloud-based data platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile practices such as sprint planning and stand-ups.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse, global, cross-functional team.
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies, experiment with new approaches, and continuously improve.

You’ll Benefit From

The hourly pay range for this position $24 - $31 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
