Job summary

Pearson is hiring a DATA SCIENTIST on the VALUE team to turn data into actionable insights for product strategy and operations. You’ll analyze structured and unstructured data, develop statistical and ML solutions, and communicate findings through visualizations and reports.

You’ll partner with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and Quality Engineers to pinpoint opportunities where data and AI improve decision‑making and customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, or related analytical roles.
• Demonstrated experience using Python for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
• Experience with statistical analysis, exploratory data analysis, and predictive modeling.
• Experience working within Agile product or engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• AI & Emerging Technology Contributions (40%): Contribute to AI-enabled products and operational initiatives; support Generative AI, LLMs, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation; assist in prompts, retrieval strategies, model outputs, and AI workflows; build and monitor evaluation frameworks; partner with engineering to integrate AI into production services; establish best practices for responsible AI and governance.
• Statistical Modeling & Machine Learning (30%): Develop, validate, and maintain statistical and ML models; apply predictive analytics, classification, forecasting, clustering, recommendation, and optimization; evaluate model performance and refine solutions with feedback; ensure model quality via testing and documentation.
• Collaboration (20%): Partner with Product Managers and Business Analysts to translate questions into analytical solutions; collaborate across Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Operations; communicate findings clearly; share knowledge and mentor peers.
• Data Analysis & Insights (10%): Analyze large datasets to identify trends and risks; transform data into actionable recommendations; develop dashboards and KPIs; perform exploratory analysis to inform decisions.
