Job summary

State Street seeks a Data Protection Managing Director to define and scale an enterprise-wide data protection program across on-premises, cloud, and AI environments. You will partner with Security, Data, Privacy, Legal, Risk, and Compliance to embed security into platforms and pipelines.

You will lead with a risk-based approach, delivering executive metrics on data risk, retention, and access governance, while advancing AI security and automated protection controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• 15+ years leadership experience in cybersecurity, data protection, or related disciplines.
• Deep expertise in data discovery, classification, DLP, encryption, key management, data governance, and access controls.
• Proven experience securing cloud-native data ecosystems and modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the enterprise Data Protection Strategy across on-premises, cloud, and AI environments.
• Establish a lifecycle framework for protecting sensitive information: discovery, classification, retention, and access governance.
• Lead data protection risk assessments and incident response planning with executive-level reporting.
• Develop and implement data access governance, encryption, key management, and monitoring controls.
• Drive modernization initiatives to reduce data exposure and improve regulatory compliance.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Risk to implement practical retention and automated disposal policies.
