Job summary

State Street seeks a Data Protection Managing Director to define and govern the firm’s enterprise-wide data protection strategy, reporting to the SVP of Data and AI Security. This senior leader will enable digital, cloud, AI, and data transformations while protecting critical information assets through intelligent, automated protection controls.

The role partners across Security, Engineering, Data, Privacy, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Infrastructure to embed security into platforms, pipelines,

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in cybersecurity, data protection, or related disciplines.
• Deep expertise in data discovery, classification, DLP, encryption, key management, data governance, and access controls.
• Proven experience securing cloud-native data ecosystems and AI security risks.
• Experience presenting to executive leadership, boards, regulators, and auditors.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise data protection strategy across the firm.
• Develop risk-based data lifecycle management and retention programs.
• Manage AI data security, model security, and data exposure controls.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Risk teams to enforce retention and disposal.
• Provide executive reporting on data protection posture and remediation progress.
