Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead a client data domain in a Colorado-based team. You will partner with business, technology, analytics, operations, and risk groups to translate complex data needs into actionable product requirements and maintain a prioritized backlog.

You will guide discovery and delivery, define acceptance criteria, and lead UAT while ensuring governance, quality, and enterprise standards are embedded in every data solution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience with 5+ years of total relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and collaborating with product, business, and technology teams.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across matrixed teams and influence outcomes across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of data management disciplines including governance, quality, metadata, lineage, and MDM.
  • Comprehensive understanding of retail and retirement investment products (Brokerage, IRAs, ETFs, 401(k), 403(b), defined contribution/benefits).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience translating data findings into business recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to convey technical concepts to leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives independently.

Job description

  • Acts as the Product Owner and primary point of contact for an assigned client data domain
  • Partners across business, technology, analytics, operations, and risk teams to understand needs, resolve issues, and improve data outcomes
  • Consults with business stakeholders on complex client data needs and translates business objectives into clear product requirements
  • Owns and prioritizes the backlog, balancing business value, data quality, risk, dependencies, and delivery capacity
  • Partners with engineering, architecture, analytics, and business teams throughout product discovery, refinement, delivery, validation, and adoption
  • Ensures product requirements incorporate data governance, quality, control, metadata, and enterprise standards
  • Defines acceptance criteria and leads business validation and UAT for new or enhanced product capabilities
  • Defines and monitors product success measures, including adoption, data quality, reliability, and business value
  • Identifies and manages data quality issues, risks, and dependencies, driving remediation
  • Provides guidance, knowledge sharing, and support to less experienced associates
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 5+ years of total relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and collaborating with product, business, and technology teams
  • Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate across matrixed teams and influence outcomes across cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of data management disciplines including data governance, data quality management, metadata management, data lineage, and master data management (MDM)
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of investment products within the retail and retirement plan space (e.g., Brokerage accounts, IRAs, ETFs, 401(k), 403(b), defined contribution, defined benefit plans)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience conducting advanced data analysis and translating findings into actionable business recommendations
  • Strong organization, planning, prioritization, and process improvement skills
  • Strong knowledge of relational database models and SQL for data extraction, profiling, validation, and analysis
  • Proficient at gathering and documenting business and data requirements and translating requirements into effective data solutions
  • Experience managing complex datasets, data dependencies, and end-to-end data flows across multiple business processes and systems
  • Experience implementing and executing data governance, data quality, and data management controls
  • Experience leading testing and validation efforts for data products, data pipelines, reporting solutions, and system enhancements, including test planning, execution, defect management, and data reconciliation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to business stakeholders and leadership
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously while working independently with minimal guidance
  • Experience with MS Office (advanced Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Teams
  • Experience defining, monitoring, and reporting data quality metrics, governance KPIs, and remediation activities
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or providing guidance to less experienced associates
