Job summary

Syneos Health is seeking a Counsel I, Data Privacy to provide practical legal guidance on privacy and data protection across regions, including HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and marketing/privacy compliance. You will draft and negotiate DPAs, notices, and vendor contracts, while supporting privacy operations and incident response.

Travel is up to 15% and collaboration with the Office of the General Counsel is required.

Qualifications

• Jurist with multinational or law-firm experience
• Strong privacy-law knowledge and applications
• Contract and commercial-law understanding for the region
• Business-oriented, pragmatic legal advice on risks

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on data privacy and data protection matters across regions
• Support regional privacy compliance activities, including notifications, filings and regulatory engagement
• Advise on privacy aspects of employment, HR notices, and data processing agreements
• Draft and maintain privacy notices, DPAs, data sharing agreements, HIPAA BAAs and related documents
• Negotiate privacy terms with customers, vendors and third parties
• Advise on marketing, promotions and outreach activities
• Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, processes and training
• Support privacy operations: DSARs, complaints, data mapping, mitigation
• Assist in privacy incident response and regulatory notifications
• Participate in client/vendor meetings, audits and inspections
• Collaborate with Office of the General Counsel and regional teams
• Review new tech and business initiatives for privacy implications
• Perform other duties; travel up to 15%

Education

JD/LLM/LLB or an equivalent degree

Fully qualified lawyer

Industry certifications e.g. CIPP/US, CIPT, CIPM, AIGP (or equivalent)
