Job summary

embecta, a global medical device company, seeks a Senior Legal Counsel, Global Privacy, to lead the worldwide privacy program and advise on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity. This on-site hybrid role in Parsippany, NJ partners with stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance while enabling growth. 5+ years' privacy-focused legal experience and JD are required.

Responsibilities include privacy governance, DPIAs, data mapping, and drafting DPAs/BAAs. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

JD required with 5+ years of legal experience including privacy matters.
Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
Experience with HIPAA/HITECH, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and state privacy laws.

Responsibilities

Lead embecta's global privacy program and Privacy Steering Committee.
Provide risk-based legal guidance on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity.
Design and maintain privacy governance, DPIA, data mapping, and records of processing activities.
Develop privacy-by-design standards and awareness training.
Advise on privacy incidents, risk assessment, and remediation with stakeholders.
Draft and negotiate DPAs, BAAs, and privacy-related provisions in contracts.
Support commercial teams and cross-functional partners on privacy in agreements.
