Job summary

Franklin Fitch is partnering with a large US law firm to migrate its legacy SQL Server data warehouse to Microsoft Fabric. We seek a Senior Data Engineer to own the modernisation, build safe pipelines, and enable secure data access for AI and back‑office automation.

This hands‑on role offers direct access to the hiring manager, with potential to grow into a technical lead and flexible remote work with occasional office visits to US locations.

Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on Microsoft Fabric data engineering experience, including lakehouse or medallion architecture.
• Strong SQL skills, including experience with existing SQL Server environments.
• Practical experience with PySpark and Spark SQL.
• Sound data‑security practices for confidential business data.
• The ability to understand an inherited environment, make changes safely and work with limited day‑to‑day direction.
• Clear communication and a willingness to use modern tools, including AI‑assisted development, thoughtfully.

Responsibilities

• Platform ownership: take ownership of the data warehouse as it moves from SQL Server to Microsoft Fabric, while supporting the legacy environment during the transition.
• Pipelines and reporting: Build and adapt data pipelines and models across accounting, HR, CRM and other business systems.
• AI and data security: Work with AI engineers to deliver data for new applications and protect sensitive information.
• Ownership and communication: Raise risks early and communicate clearly with stakeholders; take ownership of outcomes.
• Preferred: experience with legal accounting systems such as Elite or 3E, and supporting a data‑warehouse migration.
