Job summary

Career Movement is seeking a senior data engineer to lead a ground-up data platform built on Microsoft Fabric. You will design notebooks and pipelines, architect the new code-first environment, and migrate legacy workflows while collaborating with a tight engineering team.

You will shape technical direction, ensure data quality, and deliver scalable analytics capabilities that provide immediate business visibility across the organization.

Qualifications

• Hands-on production experience with Microsoft Fabric
• Strong background in SQL Server and the Azure data ecosystem
• Comfort working with code and notebooks rather than drag-and-drop tools
• Experience building data platforms from scratch, not just maintenance
• Strong communication in a small, high-visibility team

Job description

A well established home furnishings retailer is building its next generation data platform on Microsoft Fabric and needs a senior engineer to help lead the effort. This is a ground up build rather than legacy maintenance: you will be writing the notebooks and pipelines that move company data into a modern, code first environment, working alongside a small, tightly knit engineering team where your work has immediate visibility across the business.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data pipelines and notebooks within Microsoft Fabric to support enterprise wide reporting and analytics
• Lead the architecture and rollout of a new, code first data platform from the ground up
• Migrate and modernize existing data workflows out of legacy and drag and drop tools
• Collaborate closely with a small engineering team, contributing to technical direction and best practices
• Partner with business stakeholders to ensure the platform supports evolving reporting and analytics needs
• Maintain data quality, performance, and reliability across pipelines as the platform scales

Requirements

• Hands on production experience with Microsoft Fabric (certification alone is not sufficient)
• Strong background in SQL Server and the Azure data ecosystem
• Demonstrated comfort working in code and notebooks rather than drag and drop tooling
• Experience building data platforms from scratch, not just maintaining existing systems
• Strong communication skills and comfort operating within a small, high visibility team
