Job summary

ServiceNow, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Platform in California to lead a 6–10 engineer team building and operating core cloud-native platform services.

You will own delivery, people direction, and technical strategy across hyperscaler and on‑prem environments. You will drive reliability, scalability, and operability, set SLOs, lead on-call practices, and partner with leaders to align with broader platform standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building production software, including distributed systems and Kubernetes experience.
• 5+ years managing software engineers, with hiring and team retention track record.
• Hands-on with at least one major hyperscaler (AWS, Azure, GCP) and core compute, networking, IAM.
• Strong knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop a team of software engineers designing, building, and operating cloud-native platform services.
• Own end-to-end delivery for the team’s domain with product and platform leadership for roadmap and priorities.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and operability of services; establish SLOs, on-call practices, and operational reviews.
• Collaborate with principal engineers, peer managers, and workload teams to align with platform architecture and standards.
• Review designs and code, influence architectural decisions, occasionally contribute hands-on work.
• Foster a healthy, high-trust engineering culture with clear expectations and inclusive environment.
• Communicate status, risks, and trade-offs to leadership and stakeholders.
