Overview
The Office of Institutional Advancement (IA) at High Point University is seeking a full‑time Data Management and Reporting Specialist. This position is responsible for providing accurate coding, reporting and integration within and across IA departmental software solutions, essential for the administration of fundraising efforts. It also serves as a backup for other key Advancement Services functions, including gift processing and data maintenance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
- Experience and Training: Minimum of three to five years with Raiser’s Edge (or a comparable fundraising system) or a relational database; minimum of three to five years with data reporting, analysis, and cleanup.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: Knowledge of system databases, data elements, and data analysis; understanding of programming logic; strong analytical skills and attention to detail; knowledge of fundraising techniques, preferably in higher education; strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); strong communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality, use discretion, and exercise good judgment; ability to prioritize work assignments.
Essential Functions
- Acts as the primary reporting expert, extracting and formatting data for financial reporting, weekly reporting, donor lists, pledge tracking/reconciliation, and communications for meetings and events.
- Functions as the backup expert providing user access and security, training IA staff and others on system use, queries, exports, and reports.
- Performs data management and maintenance of the development database, ensuring accuracy and integrity of constituent or gift information.
- Assists with technical requirements, performs imports/exports, and manages software that handles third‑party data (e.g., constituent biographical information, website integration, admissions student information).
- Assists with constituency synchronization, ensuring database accuracy; performs audits of gifts and pledges and provides guidance to the Gift Processing Team.
- Manages integration and serves as primary resource for Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Omatic Cloud, and the Event Management solution, ensuring data integrity, flow, extraction, troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Collaborates with the Director of Advancement Data Analysis and Research on developing and enforcing university policies and procedures, compliance with IRS, UPMIFA, and FASB regulations, and updates related to accounting practices and laws.
- Maintains and develops Power BI dashboards and ensures compliance with recurring reporting needs within IA.
- Works jointly with IT, the Business Office, annual auditors, and other departments on operational and reporting requirements related to IA.
- Maintains policies and procedures for database and reporting processes and assesses new technology with the director.
- Supports other Advancement Services work as needed and communicates routinely with team members and stakeholders.
Accountability
Maintains positive donor relations through accurate reporting of the development database, expands the university’s database of development prospects, and ensures timely and accurate reports to track and assist with successful fundraising activities. Reports to the Director of Advancement Data Analysis and Research.
