Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a data analytics professional to design and implement analytical solutions, improve reporting processes, and support enterprise BI efforts. You will work with Tableau, Power BI, SAP, and Epic platforms to meet department needs and ensure data accuracy.

The role emphasizes gathering requirements, performing analyses, and training end users to adopt self-service reporting across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/Engineering/Business or 4 years of data analytics experience.
• EPIC official designation of “Proficient” within the new hire probationary period.
• Master’s degree in IT/CS/Engineering/Business/Administration (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Gains a thorough understanding of the database structure and BI tools to create analytical solutions.
• Serves as first point of contact for data analytics and process improvement.
• Performs data analysis and creates queries, programs and automation under direction of an experienced analyst.
• Gathers requirements and prepares analysis to evaluate enterprise effectiveness and efficiency.
• Uses basic analytical methods to ensure reported data is meaningful and accurate.
• Develops technical ability in data analytics using Tableau, MS Office, and SAP products.
• Attends courses in performance improvement, system design, statistics, and related subjects.
• Assists in problem identification, resolution, and solution design for business needs under supervision.
• Reviews and documents issues, risks, and scope changes with management.
• Manages workload to meet deadlines and project goals.
• Communicates project significance and risk factors to stakeholders.
• Provides post-implementation review support and user training.
• Builds data literacy and supports end users in self-service reporting.
• Gathers feedback to improve report usability and data trust.
• Grows knowledge of core reporting tools and data governance basics.
